My reasons for leaving the Euro-club:
1. Most friends were in the US-world. If I wanted to do a mission with them, we always had to wait several hours in the International Districts for other players to complete our team. Doesn't work.

2. The change into Spanish/German/Italian/Norwegian/Maltese/Turkish-Cypriotic districts. Just English-spoken districts should've been enough. I don't see any Spanish/Chinese districts on the US-world. IMO having only very few English-districts isn't comfortable. Yes, I can speak French and German (and Dutch) fluently, but I rather concentrate on gaming then searching my mind for the right words (or grammer rules).

So calling me (and others) traitors is a bit harsh.
Having Favor is nice, having ppl online to play with (US-world NEVER sleeps it seems) is better.

Having only read the OP, and a bit of stuff about Europeans going to America I say this message.

I play on Euro servers and the reason for the lack of favour is most European's including myself are lazy. Instead of toughing it out against all the American Giants, ie. Sissy Boys, Nuclear Launched Detected and Hot Sausage, etc. they would rather play on US servers and avoid the hassle.

Any Europeans going to American servers are traitors in the war on terror :-)

Okay as an Australian and with no server of our own - i use the European server. This usually means that at sometimes of my day and night some towns are completely deserted.

So I thought I might try the Amercian server as I was told that there were more people on line when most of our guild was. However, I subsequently have been advised that if I change back and forth eventually I will get stuck in either Europe or America and then something about favour.

So as a relative newbie to gaming can someone please clarify how favour comes into it. If for example I was stuck on the American server, are you only stuck in one server whilst your country has no favour and can you change back if the European Server has it?

I have NFI - so if someone could calrify it would be great.

Bye for now.

Here's how favour works.

In PvP, different competitors try to win a series of rounds. They then gain acces to the Hall of Heroes, and the country that they represent (Korea/USA/Europe- in other words, the server that they play on) gains favour.

Meanwhile, completely seperate to the PvP, all PvErs wanting to access the UW and FoW have to wait until their country holds favour before they can enter (They also have to be ascended).

With regards to the territory change, Anet have permitted all account holders to switch servers a total of 5 times. After this, you get stuck. If you are thinking about switching servers, my advice is to give it a try. If you like it, you still can switch again 4 more times. If you don't, just switch back and you still have 3 more opportunities to switch. - You can change back and forth for a while so that you can be on the server that holds favour, but only for a limited time. Once you have switched 5 times, that's it. - Most people I know have only changed once though, and seem happier on the US server.

To be honest, you shouldn't need more than this. There is little difference between playing the game on the US server to the Euro server apart from more people, more favour, and less lag (In my experience).

For a start, GW is divided into 3 distinct regions that are US, Korea and Europe. These regions have each a number of sub-regions called districts, and if you take the Euro Region, you are allowed to switch to any of its districts at will. While you can do join any district of the region you are in, you cannot join any disctrict from other regions. For example if you are in euro, you can switch to Euro1, Euro2, Euro3,etc... but can't go to US1, US2, Korea1, Korea2,etc. The only way to play in the US districts is to move your account in the US region (and you are allowed to do this only 5 times only).

On top of that, the game feature special zones that can be entered only if your region has the favor of the gods (These are called Fissure of Woe and Underworld). To obtain the favor for Europe, it means PvP groups from Europe must stack a number of consecutive wins in the Arena called the Hall of Heroes.

As a matter of fact, Europe seems hardly enough competitive to hold the favor much, thus European players can quite never enter the FoW and UW.

hope this helps

The Eurpeans servers are now divided into linguistic districts : English, French, German, Italian and Spanish. You can freely move from and to anyone of these when you play on the Euro servers

a quick question: if i change my region to america and stay there, for example, for a month, and then come back does gw calculate this like 1 (or 2) switch or every access is calculated like a switch??

if i go to america and then come back and then go again i get 4 switches, but if i don't do anything after changing region can i stay there for a long period and then come back?

please post your toughts...

Mhhh I play on euro and though I never changed region (and don't want to neither) i'll just post an assumption.

You use one switch any time you change region, independently of the amount of time you play in the new region.

Euro(starting region)->US->Euro->US would eat up 3 of your 5 switches.

Well,
When you change first time you get message that you have 4 times left to change district. When you log in you will be at the district where you did change.
You can be there like month and then change back, but when you change back you have 3 changes left. So each change takes one away...

Hope somebody understands what I mean.

Europe is slowly getting lonely further on to the game, sort of from Desert/Droknars and beyond. I'm guessing some people get frustrated for not finding a good team to do missions so they change region to america where more people are there and a better chance to find a good team. My guess.

If we get no change in the update or non frogeese answer in the next couple of weeks, then I will seriously consider it.

I love playing in europe, you get to meet all sorts of people from very different cultures. It feels a lot more homely than the US does, more like a town than a spawling metropolis, which I really like. So leaving it will be a sad thing to do.

However since I dislike PvP and adore the UW and Fissure there will soon be no option(unless I want to become a Vampire mesmer and stay up past 3am) than me to move.

I don't blame the EU guild for not putting up a better go of it, I'm sure they all work hard it will be purely down to a system that although a great idea is simply not working. Time to change it

For the record a few of us are noting down the times of when and to whom favour goes. we'll publish it in a couple of weeks so people can see actual data and not conjecture. Hopefully that will provide ANet the data they need to change the way it works.

Default Thanks for the help

Thank you for clarifying the server issue I havent quite made it to the desert yet and have not acsended so didn't know what favour and the underworld meant. Nearly all my guild have gone to the Amercian Server now.

And I really like playing in the European server and meeting people from such different nationalities. But there was no one and I mean no one on the English server dist 1 when I was playing last week in Druids Overlook, nor Fishermans Haven. Just me and the Henchies. Lions Arch had about 4 people. I guess the time difference from Australia to Europe is a bigger issue than I thought. Not so much on the weekend but mid week is really quiet.

So I think I will join all my guild in the US and play there for a week or so. I think I can change back once more after that having tried the Amercian server first by mistake then going to Europe.

I think ANet needs to provide answers ASAP about what their plans are.

Bye for now

Jodie

I'm about to do the same thing also, been waiting 3 weeks for a change and no unfroggy answer came up explaining what are the advantages of playing in the euro region...

Honestly i'm not interested in PvP at all, moreover since you read in these forums that if you don't have the standard smite team you'll probably get wiped out badly...

I've been logging favour changes for a few days. This is what the breakdown in time is so far(or at least when i've been on or awake). When I get a couple of weeks data i'll put an analysis up

All times are GMT+1, date format is dd.mm.yy

Time....................................Region.... .........Duration
01,09.05 11:30pm-02:30am......Europe............3 hours
01.09.05 02:30-~7:30am.........America...........5 hours
02.09.05 7:30am-15:00am.......Korea..............7.5 hours
02.09.05 15:00-17:15.............America...........2.25 hours
02.09.05 17:15-19:15.............Europe............2 hours
02.09.05 19:15-00:00.............America..........19 hours
03.09.05 14:00-???................America

Total America 26.25 hours(67%)
...Korea 7.5(19.35%)
...Europe 5 Hours(12.9%)

Of which only 02.09.05 did EU have favour at a reasonable time

Apologies for any maths errors I'll work it out properly in a week or 2.

Indeed...

There's no point to wait for a fix to this, if Anet has solutions for this favor thingy, they should post it clearly and not say it via the frog's cyphered language...

As a matter of fact, i just moved to the us... And will come back to my favorite euro region when things have been fixed.
